In the Middle Ages, oregano was already used as an aromatic to season dishes, but also for its well-known antiseptic virtues. It was widely grown in the wild and therefore rarely cultivated in gardens.

Oregano is a winter-hardy perennial that blooms with small white flowers if left uncut. Native to the Mediterranean, it loves the sun, resists heat and requires little maintenance.

Uses : Oregano is commonly used as an aromatic in dishes and homemade sauces. It can also be drunk as an herbal tea to combat winter infections.
Sowing : Sow from March to May directly in the ground, in rows or in pots. Water during germination and for the first few weeks.
