The carrot is a biennial plant that is generally cultivated in the first year for its roots. However, it can be left to flower in the second year to produce its own flowers and seeds. Carrots prefer sandy soil.

Uses : In addition to its edible root, carrot tops can also be used in cooking, as can its flowers and seeds in their second year.

Sowing : Sow in rows from February to July, thinning out when seedlings are a few centimetres tall to encourage growth.
